Saddleworth and the surrounding areas have a rich history and there are many books detailing this history, both old and collectable and also modern publications.
Local authors, such as Ammon Wrigley, are well known both for their historical writings and dialect prose and poetry. Oldham and Ashton Under Lyne and their surrounding areas also have plenty of literature and history books to choose from.Whilst local history can be collectable,some books are relatively easy to source but some are very scarce, particularly pamphlets as they were not designed to be kept. They do not have to be old to be scarce or command higher prices, some more modern publications can be difficult to find.
